402 Thanks for sending this. (NY State Marriage License) I have a copy ofthis original too. Please look at it again. The spelling of his name(part of what I do in my work is translate and transcribe old Germanscript for clients; it's a bear, but I've developed a real knack forit) is Maciucca, not Maciussa; and her name is Nanziata, short forAnnunziata, the annunciation; makes sense, doesn't it? Together he wasthe Nazareze, and she the annunciation; very religious names. Heavens. His nickname; as far as I know he went by Nazareno, but she went byNancy. Family stories indicate that she had red hair and had a temperto match, but made a great chocolate cake. He was supposed to havebeen very sweet tempered. I also understand that both the Maciucca andPalladino marriages were arranged, and that the brides were sent forfrom Italy. Have you also heard the same story?
